Fungus Toe Nails
Fungus is a mold and certain types of fungi will affect the nails and cause them to become yellow, thick and even painful. In our office we will take tests to determine if a fungus is causing the problem. If it is, we can treat it with new, highly effective topical medications or if the patient chooses, oral medications. One highly effective topical medication which is made from natural products is called Onychol. We offer this product to our patients. We will also work with the patient to develop an ongoing at home treatment plan to help prevent recurrences of fungus toe nails. We will also discuss the pros and cons of the latest physical therapeutic modalities such as light therapy (laser) which is becoming available as a treatment for fungal nails.
